Charlotte’s wrap

The inspiration for the wrap was my son’s girlfriend before Christmas. Sadly ex-girlfriend now! I say sadly but apparently it was mutual and they are still watching Breaking Bad together. I’m sad though, I miss her. Anyway…

I wanted to make her a cosy lap blanket or shawl that she could lay across her lap or wrap around her shoulders whilst on the sofa relaxing or playing Playstation. I asked my son what colours I should use and he just shrugged his shoulders, so I picked all the colours I saw her wear, guessing them to be her favourites! And then I and finished the wrap with unicorn fringing. Because who doesn’t like unicorns, right?

I used the delicious Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran.
I designed the pattern to work with 5 balls of Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran for both the wrap and baby blanket, and 15 balls for an adult size blanket. You could use any weight or brand yarn in which case you need to chain a multiple of 18 plus 16.

The wrap doubles as a lap blanket, and the adult blanket’s row count is three times that of the wrap. The baby blanket is a slightly different configuration but you get all three patterns-in-one with this one.

You will be working with V stitches and popcorn stitches.

Popcorn Stitch

Work 5 tr (dc) into 3ch-sp, remove the hook from the working loop,
insert the hook into the top of the first tr (dc) made, replace the
working loop on the hook, yarn over, draw tightly through the working
loop and the stitch on the hook.

I have uploaded the pattern to Ravelry, where it is free until March 10th 2017 and after that it will be £3.00
