Easy Amigurumi Bunny (Free Crochet Pattern)
This little bunny is the amigurumi pattern I wish I'd had when I started. It uses only single crochet, increases and decreases, and every round is written out with stitch counts, so you always know where you are.
SavePattern Highlights
- Only basic stitches. If you can single crochet, you can make this.
- Works up in 2 to 3 hours from scraps of worsted-weight yarn.
- Every round includes a stitch count, so it's easy to check your work.
- Small, soft and huggable. A sweet baby shower or Easter basket gift.
Materials
- Worsted-weight yarn in main color (about 80 yd)
- Small amount of white yarn for the tail
- 3.5 mm (E-4) crochet hook
- Two 9 mm safety eyes (or black yarn for embroidered eyes)
- Polyester fiberfill stuffing
- Stitch marker
- Yarn needle and scissors
Abbreviations used
This pattern uses US crochet terms. Tap any abbreviation for a full explanation, or see the complete crochet abbreviations list.

Tips for success
- Use a stitch marker. Spirals make it easy to lose count. Move the marker up at the start of every round.
- Stuff as you go. Add stuffing a little at a time, starting before the opening gets small.
- Try the invisible decrease. Working through front loops only gives a smooth, gap-free finish.
- Pin before you sew. Ears placed even one round off can change the whole expression.

- Numbers in parentheses (6) are the stitch count at the end of the round.
- For children under 3, embroider the eyes instead of using safety eyes.

Frequently asked questions
Can I make this bunny with a different yarn weight?
Yes. Use a hook 1 to 2 sizes smaller than the yarn label recommends so the fabric stays tight. Thicker yarn makes a bigger bunny; DK or sport weight makes a smaller one.
Is this bunny safe for babies?
For children under 3, skip the safety eyes and embroider the eyes with yarn instead. Sew all parts on very securely.
Why do I see stuffing between my stitches?
Your stitches are too loose. Go down a hook size, and try the yarn-under technique for single crochet, which makes tighter, neater stitches.
Do I join each round with a slip stitch?
No. This pattern is worked in a continuous spiral. Use a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round so you don't lose your place.
